Local Business Connects Engaged Couples with Local Wedding Vendors

Even in hard economic times, local couples and those planning destination weddings in the Reno/Tahoe area are still saying “I do.” But they have to plan smarter to save time and money while still making their big day one to remember.

My Wedding Library, a local business founded by Beth and Chris Jones after they planned their own Lake Tahoe Wedding, helps couples connect with area wedding professionals more efficiently by allowing them to compare vendors side-by-side and read others’ reviews and ratings all in one place—either at My Wedding Library’s South Reno storefront or online—for free.

“While planning our own wedding, we spent so much time and gas driving around to different appointments and meetings with potential vendors,” said Beth Jones, owner of My Wedding Library. “We wanted to simplify the process for other couples while giving local businesses a new and creative way to market themselves to a very targeted audience.”

Reno/Tahoe wedding businesses and professionals have responded to the opportunities the library provides. Only open since June 15th, My Wedding Library recently celebrated a milestone—100 vendors are now signed on as members of the library. From florists, photographers and caterers to wedding coordinators, event venues, and hair and makeup artists, My Wedding Library is truly one-stop shopping for anyone planning a wedding or special event.

With a library membership, companies can display their portfolios and work samples at the library and can arrange private consultations with potential clients at the stylish space. Also included is an online profile where past customers can review and rate their services. Wedding vendors who don’t have their own web presence—and even those who do—find value in being able to attract and correspond directly with potential clients through the online community. Businesses can also offer promotions, giveaways and free seminars at the library, which can help them build relationships with potential customers.

“I really like that I can speak to a very specific market with my vendor page on My Wedding Library,” said Stephanie Williams of Stephanie Williams Photography. “Whereas on my own website, I show every genre of photography that I practice with equal emphasis, on this site I can focus specifically on weddings and what it means to capture the significance of the occasion.”
