I hired Jim for my daughter's graduation/18th birthday celebration, as he came highly recommended and did not disappoint. He really touched on the genre we requested and the guests loved that they were able to request songs throughout the event. I hope they are still entertaining when my daughter gets married (in years to come) so I can have their skills at that time.

We booked Thunder and Lighting Mobile DJ for our wedding reception because Jimmy was so responsive, accommodating and willing to make our day special. We were interested in a DJ who would be able to play reggae and other Caribbean music as we are Jamaicans and the music was super important to us. Not only did he research and located the music we chose, but he familiarized himself with them to ensure that he them played accordingly.

Jimmy and Kellie were amazing to work with. Planning this wedding during the current pandemic climate was very difficult and they were very amenable to our rescheduling. Both Jimmy and Kellie were very polite in our interactions. They seemed to have a level of investment where they felt almost family-like when discussing our event and proved to be very helpful when things didn't go as planned. Jimmy was especially helpful when our coordinator was absent and helped to keep the timeline intact. Kellie did an amazing job of running the photo booth and was polite to every single guest. Jimmy and Kellie did our wedding on 9-19-2020 and knocked it out of the park!! They are so professional and personable and did everything possible to make our special day the best it could be!! They did an amazing job coordinating with the caterer and photographer to ensure the day went as smooth as possible!  We had so many changes due to covid, and they adapted and conquered everything we threw at them!! The music variety was fantastic and we had the whole party dancing all night!! Will absolutely be using them for every event we have in the future! Jimmy and Kellie are amazing at what they do. Because of the current situation going on all over the world, they have been making cds to take their business to another level. They needed to re-invent themselves to bring happiness to their customers. The cds that they are making are amazing. You give them a list of songs, and they record it for you. I requested a cd collection of live tracks from all of the bands I've seen. They put versions of the songs I picked that I have never heard. It was amazing!!!! II highly recommend them for a wedding, a party or making a cd.

Thunder & Lightning was the DJ at our Christmas party this year (yes it was a little early) and it was amazing, James played a wide mix of music that kept everyone dancing. I could not of asked for a better DJ, he did everything I asked for. The photo booth was a big hit also, I highly recommend it, my employees loved it. I would highly recommend Thunder & Lightning Mobile DJ. They are fun and easy to work with. They are laid back and make planning your wedding less stressful. They know that your wedding day is YOUR day and they do whatever they can to make sure all your requests are fulfilled. They play great music and they know how to keep the party going! Our guests were dancing for hours! At one point, we had some issues with our wedding coordinator, and Jimmy stepped in and helped our day flow smoothly. The Kleins were very nice from the beginning! They were happy to work around my budget and kept up contact by responding very quickly! On my wedding day they helped ensure the guests were happy and we stayed on schedule as much as possible, while also being very nice to everybody and quick and efficient for setup/takedown. We let the Kleins go early due to guests leaving earlier than anticipated, but they were more than happy to stay the whole time if needed. My husband and I are extremely satisfied with this service, and our family loved them too :) thank you so much Klein family!

I got married a couple weeks and Jimmy and Kellie are amazing. I hired Jimmy and Kellie for a banquet for the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno. I know Jimmy personally, and used his photo booth for my high school graduation party a couple of years ago. Of course it was a hit, so there was no hesitation in contacting him again for this event. Jimmy always kept in contact with me to make sure everything was perfect, especially when it came to designing the photo strips. He knew exactly where our venue was and had no trouble setting up his gear. I cannot say enough good things about Jimmy and Kellie!! They kept in contact with me regularly, which was difficult since I live in Colorado, and they were always SO reassuring!! For my wedding we also used their photobooth and that was such a hit!! The props they brought were perfect and we loved that they printed us out extra copies to put in a book! It was also extremely helpful to have Kellie there to show the guests how to work the photobooth and where to put their pictures. Jimmy is by far the best DJ! He had every single one of my guests dancing the entire night and none of my guests wanted it to end! We even went to a nightclub after the wedding and everyone wished we could have just had Jimmy DJ longer! They made my wedding the best party and I couldn't be more grateful! We had our holiday party at The Depot Distillery.  Thunder and Lightning DJ service was amazing and really helped get the crowd engaged. We could not have asked for a better DJ. From the moment we met with them, to our wedding day, they were there to help and support us. They are so respectful and a blast to spend time with. We had our ceremony in a pasture on a ranch and it was so windy, but everyone heard the music clearly. Then the reception was in the courtyard and the music was perfect. Not to loud so thatbpeople couldn’t hear each other taking, but not so quiet that people couldn’t hear the music. They kept the party moving and played all request quickly. I would use them all over again and will be referring them to all my friends getting married. 

This couple was amazing. My wedding was outdoors and in northern Nevada fashion it was of course windy. During the ceremony the wedding party and the guests had no problems hearing the music. During the reception Jimmy did a great job DJing and MCing. Our guests had a great time and enjoyed the music. Jimmy was also great to work with. He gave me and my husband time to figure out all the music and help with some great suggestions for the things I had no clue about. My wife and I used Thunder and Lightning DJ for our Donner Lake wedding on 8/18/2018. We couldn't be any more satisfied with the level of quality that Jimmy and Kelly produced! My husband and I could not have been happier with Thunder and Lightning DJ. They were recommended to us by a friend who could not say enough good things, so we already had a good feeling about them. After talking with Jim Klein, my husband and I pretty much knew we would pick them for our July wedding. We felt Jim understood us and our kind of music and the kind of atmosphere we were hoping for. We still met with another, dj, but we knew Jim was the right choice! He made sure he could pronounce the bridal party and parent's names and he went over all the details of how the night would run. My husband and I had a few special requests and things we wanted announced and Jim took note of it all. We went over our play list and Jim was able to get a good sense of what we wanted. Jim was easy to get in touch with in the weeks and days leading up to our wedding and he always got back to us promptly. I even texted him the day before and he got right back to me! I knew our wedding was in good hands and I was right! Jim remembered everything we requested throughout the evening and it was so great knowing that I didn't have to worry about a thing! During the wedding we even had a few changes made and Jim was right on top of it. The dance floor was always full and people had a great time dancing. If I could give them a higher rating, I would! Our experience with these two is beyond words. They were helpful, polite, & ended up feeling like family to us! Whenever I needed guidance, they were there. Easy to contact, you get what you pay for and then some. I truly believe without them the party wouldn’t be half as amazing as it was! Jimmy was the absolute best!! A good DJ makes or breaks a wedding reception.  Jimmy not only made our son and daughter in law’s wedding, he knocked it out of the park!!!  He made the party happen from the minute the first guest walked through the door!  Music was so good that most people never left the dance floor the ENTIRE night!!!  No higher recommendation could be made!!!

I hired Thunder and Lightning Mobile DY for my party of 250 guests. Jimmy and Kellie absolutely made the party incredible. Their ability to read the crowd and play great music was perfect. The dance floor was crowded the entire time and they even had the guests singing back to them. We celebrated our mom's 90th birthday at the Nugget Casino Resort, with more than 100 guests. Upon the Nugget's recommendation, we had Thunder & Lightning for the music.. I did everything online or over the phone. In just speaking with James (A.K.A. Jimmy) on the phone, I knew that we had the right DJ. We walked into reception and James had picked the best song for our entrance. He kept everything running so smooth. My family and friends danced until they couldn't dance any more. The Kleins were amazing to work with. They were incredibly responsive throughout the planning process and knew all of the right questions to ask....things I hadn't even thought of. I can't even begin to say how happy I was with Jimmy and Kellie. I was planning my wedding from out of town and they we amazing at keeping in touch with me answering all question and working with multiple people to make our wedding special. When to big day came they kept the party going. From start to finish able to take requests on the spot of all songs and moving three the motion of the night for events. We wouldn't have had such an amazing night with out them.

I was referred to Kellie and Jimmy on Facebook by a friend and when I reached out to them, they were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering a price that couldn't be beat. I was so busy with other details of the wedding that I didn't have a ton of time to put together any sort of playlist, so I suggested music genres and artists that I knew would be a good fit for my guests and they put together a phenomenal playlist that kept the crowd interested while we did speeches, cake cutting, garter and bouquet ordeals, and when it came time for dancing, they put up the perfect dance songs, getting almost everyone in the room up and dancing! The entire day was wonderful and I know they are definitely a huge part of it, and I cannot thank them enough!

I had a personal recommendation to hire Thunder and Lightening to DJ my wedding at Edgewood Tahoe, and I couldn't be happier with their work. I checked other recommended DJs and Jimmy's rates were very competitive. Prior it the wedding, DJ Jimmy was always available and happy to answer my questions through phone calls and texts. I had several requests and he handled them all terrifically. All my guests liked the music and Thunder and Lightening kept the wedding time line on schedule. Definitely give them serious consideration if you are looking for a top-of-the-line DJ for the Reno/Tahoe area!

My wedding wouldn't have been the same without them. My family and I arent really the dancing type but Jimmy still kept the mood going. Jimmy and Kellie Klein with Thunder and Lightning Mobile DJ Service were very friendly, personable, and ultimately cared about what we wanted for our wedding. What sold us on them was their enthusiasm and passion toward their profession. They weren’t just another run of the mill DJ Company making us feel like another number. In fact, after our first visit, we established a friendship and felt like we had known each other for years. Jimmy and Kellie are both well rounded when it comes to music genres and different wedding styles. They had a lot of fun ideas to keep our wedding exciting and engaging for our guests. One great idea was blinding folding the Groom during the Garter Retrieval AND substituting the Bride with the Best Man ALL WHILE asking the Bride on the microphone if she had shaved. Of course the answer was No! Honestly there was never a dull moment!

We were very particular on how we wanted our ceremony music executed and were extremely thankful Jimmy and Kellie could provide exactly what we wanted. They individually worked with me (groom) when I wanted to surprise our guests by playing a bass guitar solo, and then helped me execute a surprise for my wife by serenading her with my dreamy voice (added in by the bride) singing a Frank Sinatra song.

They understand that wedding timelines don’t always go as planned, and will roll with the punches to keep everything running smoothly without being aggressive or pushy. We’ve had some experiences at weddings where the DJs made it all about themselves or were completely unengaged with the crowd. This was not the case with these two and we couldn’t have been happier with them! They were on point and made a great team. Another bonus was the fact that they had their own photo booth. We absolutely loved the idea of having the booth at our wedding and ended up using the photo strips for our guest book.

I cannot explain how amazing Jimmy and Kellie are!! With everything that went wrong with the wedding they were the one thing that went right! Our playlist was amazing. We first heard about James and Kellie (Thunder & Lightning) as a recommended DJ service through our venue (Peppermill), so we contacted them as well as several other DJ services. After talking to them on the phone, and finding great reviews on this website, we decided to pick them as our DJ service for our wedding. We met with them once prior to the wedding to discuss what our song list should revolve around and how certain events during the reception will go. They did a flawless job during the reception and did exactly what they said they were going to do. They created a lively experience, which encouraged more people to dance and everyone had a great time. The time flew by and before we knew it we had to leave the venue after a fast 7 hours. I highly recommend them for your special day.

Jimmy & Kelly were great to work with from the beginning and are less expensive than most DJ's in the area which makes it easier on the budget. My son and his fiance both live in Arizona so I was the communicator for the wedding, we did facetime with the bride and groom to confirm their music choices for the important songs for their day. These guys really are the best around. They met with is a couple times and would check in with us on what kind of music we wanted and everything before the wedding. With all there is to plan for it was such a blessing to have Jimmy and Kelly from Thunder and Lightning be part of Erin and Alex's wedding day. When plans changed and we were in need of a DJ, Jimmy and Kelly immediately stepped up and took all stress away. We never had to think twice about the reception. They are the best, most affordable, personable and kind DJs you will ever find. From the first meeting with the bride and groom to the event itself, they have your best interest in mind. Both are willing to help whenever and wherever needed. Jimmy even helped pass the toast while Kelly stepped in to help the bride moments before the ceremony. From setup to the final song the music never stopped and neither did the dancing! Our guests (ranging from 3 to 89) danced and all had a great time. The dance floor was never empty, in fact almost all of our guests never sat down. We are so thankful that Jimmy and Kelly were part of our evening. Jimmy and Kellie were amazing beyond words. We were struggling to find a good, reliable, fun DJ that was in our budget until we met them. They made Trevor and I feel like we had absolutely noting to worry about. Jimmy and Kellie did a fantastic job creating a memorable atmosphere for the Sherman Wedding. They were fun, engaging, and most of all the kept the dance floor jumping!! We made several song requests, and the songs were played right away!! I love how they interacted with the guests at the wedding! Jimmy and Kelly DJ'd our daughter's 21st birthday party at The Tamarack Junction in April. Our daughter, whom has special needs, had been planning this birthday party for the past five years. She had hand selected costumes for each guest that attended (50 total). This day itself was Ana amazing event but Jimmy and Kelly made it truly memorable! This is the best Dj service around! They make everything personal and extremely fun. Whether you have a preference of music or not they do an excellent job at reading/entertaining the crowd. My husband and I had a vow renewal at Wild Creek Golf Course this past Saturday and we hired Jimmy and his awesome wife to DJ for us. They were the hit of the party and we had the best time. The music was perfect, they walked everyone through the events and made sure all our guests had a great time. They were so good in fact, that the Human Resources Manager where I work attended our vow renewal and hired them right on the spot for our company Holiday Party that will serve over 500 people. Jimmy was absolutely wonderful. He has an energy that is infectious and even found the couple of special songs I requested. Jimmy respected my wishes, recognizing we were going to have a few little ones around; and kept the music selections clean.  I must say that I am slightly biased, as I have personally known Jimmy for a few years; but even so, I would not have chosen anyone else for my special day.

Jimmie did a great job at an elementary school event. Music was age appropriate and kept all dancers on the dance floor! I highly recommend these guys for any event!

We had our wedding in California at a golf course in June.  I have never met a more fun, personable and professional person in any industry.  Jimmy was able to keep everything organized and on track even got the most shy people dancing and having fun.  He is very organized and had the great fore thought to bring extra of everything in case anything broke, which of course nothing ever went wrong.  He played every song we wanted and very intuitive as to our style of music so every song was something we loved.  A true talent of a real professional DJ is being able to watch the dance floor and if everyone scatters when a song comes on then the pro is able to fade it out and put a better one on.  Jimmy does this with grace.  Although it only happened once with an odd request from a guest.  We closed our wedding walking out together because we had so much fun.  As a matter of fact my daughter is getting married this October and there will be no body else but Jimmy at Thunder and Lightning bringing music to her day. We hired Jimmy for an 80's birthday party.  He was very upbeat, positive, and willing to do whatever we asked.  He was great at the party as well.  Played great songs and kept the energy high.  I would highly recommend him to dj your party, wedding reception, etc.

This couple is so fun to work with. As a wedding coordinator you always have a lot going on in the day and it's nice to have DJs that can help run the show. When I work with Jimmy I always know we have each other's back. Everything runs smooth and they keep the party going. 

My husband and I met this couple just a few weeks prior to out wedding date.  They were so nice and invited us into their home to discuss song choices.  They made us feel so comfortable and special.  They were the only vendor to arrive early and to he professional to our guests and event coordinator.  The facility told us they were so impressed with them and in 80 weddings these were the first DJs to get people to dance! You can't go wrong with Jimmy and Kelly, they are an amazing team! 

Jimmy and Kellie were both amazing!! We found them when our DJ cancelled on us just weeks before the wedding. We are so lucky that Jimmy was available and he was certainly better than the DJ we had originally hired. Not only did he help us out there, but then our acoustic guitarist for the ceremony decided not to show up or call us! Jimmy and Kellie were able to set up sound in our ceremony site only a few minutes after they had arrived. I can honestly say that they saved our wedding!! Everyone was on the dance floor for the night with the awesome playlist that Jimmy had created. Not only were my guests having a terrific time, Jimmy and Kellie were too. We don't live in the Tahoe area but vacation there often and I will absolutely use Jimmy for our next lakeside party. 

Jimmy was very professional and helped keep the wedding on track. His patience with myself and my wife was astounding as we had a very complicated play list that was very specific. I always refer him people i hear of getting married or just having an event and needs someone who is just the right person for the job.

Jimmy and Kellie were amazing!!! I am a type-A personality and booked them about a year before our wedding date! They were so friendly. We met with them to go over the songs I wanted and didn't want played at the reception, all the special songs for first dances/ceremony/etc. They were on top of everything the whole way and kept in touch with me throughout the year without being overwhelming. They made the day flow so smoothly and everyone's energy was on high all day and into the night. I have no complaints and no reservations in recommending them for any wedding or other event. They are super personable and ready to make your event as special as you envisioned. They were also reasonably priced, unlike several other vendors I contacted before them. If I ever need a DJ again, they will be the only ones I call!!!

I started looking for a DJ for my daughter's wedding rather last minute, after she had settled on an i pod, speaker, and playlist. I had already spoken with a few DJs and wasn't sold until I spoke with Jimmie. I felt like he listened AND had ideas, and they were very reasonably priced. He was extremely prompt in his responses, easy to talk to, and the "kids" liked him as well. And even though we only needed him for the reception, he graciously helped with the sound system for the ceremony.












JImmie and Kellie are very professional, capable, and I would hire them again in an instance. Everyone had a great time at the reception! There is no way an i pod could have done what they did! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Jimmy and Kellie met us when we were in the last minutes of wedding planning. They picked up on that instantly and took on the responsibility of taking our dance songs and the areas of music we liked and disliked, and putting together an awesome playlist. 




Then the actual wedding came around and the evening ebbed and flowed between older crowd being active and our crowd pushing to the dance floor. Jimmy worked with this perfectly, 'playing to the room' better than the phrase does justice.

Jimmy and Kellie did an absolutely stunning job at my wedding this June. Not only did they calm me down, do an impeccable job and helped me with suggestions, but they are incredibly sweet people that are fun and easy to work with. Jimmy and Kellie DJed for a wedding I coordinated last Saturday. As a coordinator, there are certain things that you look for in a DJ, and one of the most important things is being on the same page. They attended the rehearsal, where they actually played the music for the bride to walk to, because she was pretty concerned about timing being right, and they wanted to ease her worries. The fact that they attended the rehearsal, says so much about how much they care about their clients, and love what they do. They were on top of it with timing because they had corresponded with the couple prior to the wedding and that made my job so much easier. They were also really energetic and exciting to work with! They tailored their playlist to the couple, and made the bride and groom's big day perfect, and made it easier for me! I would recommend this duo for ANY event!

I am still getting compliments about music at the 11th Annual Keeping the Faith Breast Cancer Survivors' Luncheon held in October 2014. Jimmy was the perfect DJ for our wedding.  We had an outdoor wedding with an indoor reception and Jimmy set up outside first to play the music for the ceremony.  When Kellie, his wife and partner, told me "don't worry, we will take care of you" - she was not kidding.  I really didn't have to worry about anything with regard to the music.  When it came to my wedding, I just wanted to get married and I didn't think much about all the little things that make it work for the guests and us.  You know, things like when to throw the bouquet, the father/daughter and mother/son dances for the bride and groom -- I guess I'm the anti-bridezilla because I just trusted everyone else that things would work out fine.  Jimmy knew exactly how to keep things rolling - from making sure we had our first dance to the bouquet and garter tosses - even the cake cutting.   The music he played was great and had all my family dancing and having a good time - even the little kids.  His wife, Kellie, is the perfect compliment and together they made our wedding memorable and enjoyable.

Our reception was planned in a short time period of less than 3 months. I was frantic to find a DJ who clicked with my husband and I. A friend had just recently used him at her wedding and had nothing but positive things to say about Jimmy. Jimmy surpassed our expectations for our wedding last fall. He wasn't a cheesy DJ trying to grab all the attention from the guests. He had the perfect balance of keeping the wedding on track, playing what we asked him to and also keeping the guests entertained, without being pushy to get them on the floor. I had so many compliments toward him after the wedding. Thank you Jimmy for helping to make my wedding such a special day.

I've had the pleasure of attending a few local events where Jimmy was the DJ and he was amazing! It was clear from the beginning that there were many people in the crowd because of Jimmy, he seems to draw people in. He is engaged and involved with everyone in the room. He has a way of making you feel like he's your personal friend and wants to ensure you have the best time! Jimmy and his beautiful wife (Thunder and Lightning DJ) entertained at our wedding this past weekend in South Lake Tahoe. He made everything look easy from setting up on the beach for the ceremony to setting up for the reception inside. They did an AMAZING job. They played all the songs from our list, and even found the song my in laws' danced to at their wedding over 40 years ago. My guests all commented on how great the DJ was and how much fun they had with the music. I definitely would use him again...Thank you Jimmy and Kellie for helping us celebrate our special day and making wonderful memories.

A very professional out going dj. Plays great music, has every song you ask for and if he doesn't he gets it and will play it for you. I highly recommend Jimmy for any party, wedding or any other event you may need a Dj for!!!

Attended a wedding that Jimmy DJ'd and was quite impressed. He knows how to work any crowd at any age and keep everyone happy and dancing in the process. He always showed a lot of class and was very tasteful in his playlists/selections. I would definately hire him for my future events.

Wow!!!; What a great experience Jimmy K gave us for our Special Occasion.... Any Request we or our party had, we had playing with in a few songs of the request... Our wedding was all the way in northern Nevada. Jimmy came all the way and was just as prepared as if we were in the reno area. He was amazing at guiding guests to each step of the reception. That was something I was very glad I did not need to worry about! He had people on their feet in no time. He was extremelying tasteful in how he did the music, but managed to still make it a blast! I have since had so many people tell me that our wedding was one of the funnest weddings they have ever attended. Many dj's have trouble appealing to more than just the younger crowd, Jimmy had even the older guests on their feet! I would recommend anyone without a second thought to this dj service!

I want everyone to know what a wonderful DJ Jimmy is. I've hired him 6 times. Halloween party, 2 Christmas parties, summer party, my sisters wedding and my own wedding! He is punctual, has all the music we want to hear and even dances with us to get the party started. Jimmy is wonderful on the microphone and knows how to organize the reception. Trust me... Someone needs to be in charge. Jimmy also is extremely reasonable to hire. Getting ready to book him for my Christmas party!
